Guild Scottish Afternoon

Guild

On 20th January our Guild held a Scottish Afternoon. As a change from a Burns celebration, we focused on the life and writing of ‘Poet McGonagall’, who is generally associated with Dundee, just across the Tay, and also wrote about Wormit and Newport. Perhaps his best-known poem – read for us by David Winch and Viv Rough – is The Tay Bridge Disaster. Members and friends entertained with music, recitation and songs, and we enjoyed an afternoon tea including haggis bites and oatcakes. We closed the afternoon (bearing in mind the Guild theme for this year) with everyone singing Keep Right on to the End of the Road.
